requirement/applications. Crushed glass powder is made from soda lime silica glass. Firstly, the glass
obtained is sorted to remove impurities like metals and/or coloured glass from it. Further, it is
crushed and sieved to various fractions.
Crushed glass can be used in various applications namely:
1) Sand Blasting – Crushed glass can be used as a substitute to silica sand which is banned as silica dust is fatal to humans. Vapor blasting or wet blasting is another blasting operation in which crushed glass powder is used.
2) Building Industry – It can be used as a substitute for cement in concrete industry. It can also
be used as aggregates in road building.
3) Filtration Media – It can be used as a substitute for sand in filtration.
